Results of inguinal hernia treatment with laparoscopic preperitoneal mesh repair at Vinh Phuc Provincial General Hospital, 2022-2024

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the outcomes of laparoscopic preperitoneal mesh repair for inguinal hernia at Vinh Phuc Provincial General Hospital during 2022–2024. Subject and method: A retrospective descriptive study was conducted on 97 patients with inguinal hernia treated by laparoscopic preperitoneal mesh repair. Data collected included patient characteristics, operative time, postoperative complications, hospital stay. Result: The mean patient age was 48.35 ± 15.65 years; males accounted for 94.8%. The mean operative time was 14.19 ± 19.14 minutes. Postoperative complications occurred in 8 cases (8.3%), including seroma in 6 cases (6.2%), urinary retention in 2 cases (2.1%), and no complication of wound infection. The average hospital stay was 4.78 ± 1.52 days. Conclusion: Laparoscopic preperitoneal mesh repair is a safe and effective technique for inguinal hernia repair, with low complication rates. This technique can be successfully implemented at provincial hospitals, contributing to improved surgical outcomes.
