Abstract

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the effects of the CB-02 formulation in modulating dyslipidemia in an experimental rat model of exogenous hyperlipidemia. Subject and method: A model of dyslipidemia was established in Wistar rats using a modified cholesterol-oil mixture, based on a modified method of Nassiri et al. A total of 50 rats were randomly divided into five groups (n = 10 each): A physiological control group, a disease model group, two CB-02 treatment groups (336mg/kg and 672mg/kg), and a reference control group receiving atorvastatin at a dose of 10mg/kg. Blood lipid indices, including total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), and the atherogenic index (A.I), were measured on days 0, 14, and 28. Result: CB-02 demonstrated significant lipid-modulating effects, with statistically significant reductions in TC, TG, LDL-C, and A.I, along with an increase in HDL-C (p<0.05). Both tested doses of CB-02 showed comparable efficacy to the reference dose of atorvastatin after 14 and 28 days of treatment. Conclusion: CB-02 at doses of 336mg/kg and 672mg/kg exerted significant lipid-modulating effects in a rat model of exogenous hyperlipidemia, comparable to those of atorvastatin at 10mg/kg. These preliminary results suggest the potential applicability of CB-02 in the management of dyslipidemia
