Abstract

Objective: To assess the factors that facilitate and challenge the management of outpatients with type 2 diabetes at 108 Military Central Hospital in 2024. Subject and method: A qualitative study using purposive sampling. In-depth interviews were conducted with hospital executives, outpatient divisions, endocrinology units, general planning departments, and attending physicians. Focus group discussions were held with diabetic patients and nurses in the outpatient department's diabetes department. Result: The management of outpatients with type 2 diabetes at the hospital benefits from a highly skilled workforce, well-equipped facilities, and an effective management software system. However, challenges include patient overload, shortage of specialized medical staff, instability in drug supply, and some issues related to health insurance regulations. Conclusion: To enhance the quality of management and treatment for type 2 diabetes patients, the hospital needs to increase human resources, improve infrastructure, and ensure a stable drug supply for patients.
