Preliminary evaluation of quality of life in liver cancer patients treated with atezolizumab + bevacizumab regimens at 108 Military Central Hospital

Abstract
Objective: To preliminarily evaluate the quality of life of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) treated with the atezolizumab and bevacizumab regimen at 108 Military Central Hospital. Subject and method: This study analyzed the quality of life using the EORTC QLQ-C30 tool on 29 HCC patients treated with the immunotherapy combination regimen after three months, from August 2023 to June 2024. Result: After treatment, health scores improved to an average of 67.24 ± 24.59. Functional scores were average, with significant improvements in physical and activity-related aspects (p<0.05). However, financial difficulties increased after treatment (before vs. after treatment, 14.94 ± 24.54 vs. 26.44 ± 32.59, p=0.039). Additionally, individual symptoms were average, with notable improvements in symptoms like rapid breathing, nausea, and constipation (p<0.05), while symptoms like pain and vomiting remained unchanged. Conclusion: Although the atezolizumab and bevacizumab regimens increased the financial burden on patients, it ensured that the quality of life was maintained or improved after three months of treatment.
