Abstract

Objective: This study aims to describe the clinical features, causes, and classification of anal stenosis after hemorrhoid surgery and to evaluate surgical outcomes based on a retrospective cohort. Subject and method: A retrospective study on patients who underwent surgery for anal stenosis following hemorrhoid treatment between January 2022 and June 2024 at Viet Duc University Hospital. Patients were evaluated based on clinical symptoms and treatment outcomes. Result: The study included 13 patients (8 males, 5 females) with primary symptoms of difficulty in defecation and narrow stool form in all cases (100%). Surgical success was achieved in 92.3% of patients, with a mean healing time of 2.0 ± 1.1 months. Conclusion: Anal stenosis is a rare yet serious complication post-hemorrhoidectomy. Our findings suggest that various surgical techniques yield favorable outcomes with low recurrence and complication rates.
