Abstract

Objective: Assessment of the risk of thromboembolism in patients after spinal tumor surgery at K Hospital. Subject and method: Prospective, cross-sectional study of patients diagnosed and operated for spinal tumor at the Neurosurgery Department, K Hospital from June 2023 to September 2024. Result: total 51 patients, average age 57.25 ± 14.53 years old, the majority of patients were over 60 years old (49%). There were 7.8% of patients diagnosed with deep vein thrombosis and only occurred in the group of patients at high or very high risk (Caprini score > 5 points), no case of venous thrombosis with Caprini score below 5 points. There was a difference in the incidence of venous thromboembolism after spinal tumor surgery in the group with Caprini score > 8 or motor paralysis, the difference was statistically significant with p>0.05. Conclusion: Patients undergoing spinal tumor surgery have a high risk of thrombosis in the Caprini group > 8 or motor paralysis
