Abstract
Objective: To compare the bowel preparation quality and tolerance of split-dose and same-day dose bowel preparation regiment with polyethylene glycol. Subject and method: In a prospective study, 191 colonoscopy patients (93 in split-dose group and 98 in same-day group) at 108 Military Central Hospital, from 2022 to 2023. The primary end point was bowel preparation quality according to the Boston scale. Tolerability, adverse events, sleep quality were also assessed. Result: The mean Boston Bowel Preparation Scale score in the split-dose group (7.05 ± 2.06) was higher than that in the same-day group (6.77 ± 1.99), (p>0.05). The tolerability in the split-dose group was more than that in the same-day group. The rate of vomitting and bloating in the same-day group was higher than that in the split-dose group. Conclusion: The split-dose polyethylene glycol initially showed high applicability and efficiency improvement for bowel preparation.
