Leiomyoma arising from Mullerian remnant in a patient with Mayer-Rokitansky-Küster-Hauser syndrome: A case report and literature review

Abstract
Objective: To report a case of leiomyoma arising from Mullerian remnant in a patient with Mayer-Rokitansky-Küster-Hauser (MRKH) Syndrome at 108 Military Central Hospital, and to review studies on diagnosis and treatment of this disease. Case report: A 48-year-old female, with past medical history of MRKH syndrome, presented with hypogastric pain. Ultrasonography and abdominal CT scan showed a pelvic mass, suspecting an ovarian tumor. The patient was performed laparoscopy to find out the tumor on Mullerian remnant. The tumor was resected. Pathology confirmed leiomyoma. Postoperative period was uneventful. No other intervention was required. Conclusion: Leiomyoma in patients with MRKH syndrome is a rare finding. Laparoscopy is a helpful diagnostic and therapeutic modality. Tumor resection on mullerian remanant is indicated if the patient is symptomatic.
