Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the value of APACHE-II, SOFA, and CTSI scores in predicting the severity of patients with acute pancreatitis due to hypertriglyceridemia. Subject and method: A retrospective, cross-sectional study on 132 patients with acute pancreatitis due to hypertriglyceridemia from January 2020 to December 2022. The study group was divided into two groups: Severe and non-severe (Revised Atlanta criteria 2012). Collect data on clinical and laboratory characteristics and the severity of the prognostic scores of the research group. Result and conclusion: The average age of the severe and non-severe groups was similar (44.6 vs 44.7 years). The APACHE-II score had a higher predictive value for the severity of hypertriglyceridemia-induced acute pancreatitis than the SOFA and CTSI scores, with an area under the curve of 0.902, 0.786 and 0.773, respectively. The APACHE-II cutoff point of 9 predicted severe acute pancreatitis due to hypertriglyceridemia with high sensitivity and specificity of 90% and 84.43%, respectively.
