Abstract

Objective: To assess the prevalence of depression, anxiety, and stress, as well as the contributing factors, among family members of patients receiving treatment at Medical Intensive Care Unit of Military Central Hospital in 2021. Subject and method: A descriptive, cross-sectional study involved 108 family members of patients as participants. Result: The study revealed that a considerable proportion of family members of patients experienced depression (27%), anxiety (32%), and stress (22%). Furthermore, it found statistically significant associations between the psychological well-being of family members and several factors, including age, gender, income, health insurance status, residential area, and the nature of medical interventions. Conclusion: The findings suggest that personal attributes and social determinants significantly influence the levels of depression, anxiety, and stress experienced by family members of patients undergoing intensive care.
