Abstract

Objective: To describe the situation of some aspects of restrooms in outpatient department at the National Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Subject and method: A cross-sectional study was conducted on 52 restrooms in outpatient department with 208 evaluations at the National Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynecology in 2023. The research tool was a hospital restroom evaluation questionnaire issued under the Decision No. 5959/QD-BYT dated December, by the Ministry of Health. Result: The achievement rate of certain aspects of restroom quality, including general conditions, restroom floors, fixtures, and utilities, ranged from 83.7% to 99%. The criteria with the lowest achievement rates included: Having handwashing instructions (69.2%), dry floor without water accumulation (75.5%); clean floor without stains (79.8%); The criteria with the highest achievement rates included: The availability of toilet paper (90.4%), the availability of handwashing liquid and flushing water (91.3%), non-slip toilet floor (91.8%), toilets with mirrors (93.8%), floor without peeling or cracking (97.1%), toilet equipment without blockages (97.6%), toilet equipment without cracks (100.0%), meeting 100% of quantity standards to the toilet in outpatient department. Conclusion: 4 aspects including general conditions, restroom floors, equipment, and toilet supplies achievement high rates, above 83.7%. Among them, the criteria with the lowest compliance rates include: Handwashing instructions, dry floor, water accumulation, clean floor no stains. Therefore, the hospital needs interventions on these criteria to ensure the quality of hospital restrooms.
