The change and relationship of knowledge to self-care of patient with heart failure during treatment process at Thanh Nhan Hospital

Abstract
Objective: The aim of this study was to survey the change of patients’ knowledge of heart failure and relationship to self-care at before and after treatment process at Thanh Nhan Hospital. Subject and method: 116 patients had been diagnosed with heart failure at least one month before being hospitalized at Thanh Nhan Hospital from June 2022 to December 2022, were able to respond to the questionnaire. Longitudinal follow-up and prospective study. Intervention was guidance in self-care suitable for medical condition. Result: Score of the knowledge of practice self-care with heart failure based on scale A-HFKT at hospital admission and after hospital discharge were 18.51 ± 0.28 vs 23.08 ± 0.11 (z = -9.04; p<0.05). Score about pathology were 1.57 ± 0.05 vs 1.99 ± 0.00, score about symptom were 3.32 ± 0.09 vs 4.71 ± 0.04, score about nutrition were 4.07 ± 0.07 vs 4.91 ± 0.02, score about medicine were 4.39 ± 0.11 vs 5.60 ± 0.06, score about behavior were 5.19 ± 0.07 vs 5.84 ± 0.03. Statistically signficant difference (Wilcoxon signed rank test p-value <0.05). Conclusion: There are changes in patients’ knowledge of heart failure during treatment process at Thanh Nhan hospital. There is a relationship between the knowledge at hospital admission to self-care.
