Abstract

Objective: To share initial experiences received after using digital artery perforator flaps to cover soft tissue defects at finger distal phalanges. Subject and method: Prospective, longitudinal study without a control group. 11 digital artery perforator flaps (6 innervated flaps and 5 non-innervated flaps) were used to cover the soft tissue defects at the finger distal phalanges from July 2019 to June 2023. Result: Primary results: The survival rate was 11/11, venous congestion rate was 4/11. Secondary results: 5 out of 11 flaps that were followed up more than 6 months had sensory recovery of S4, and 2 out of 11 flaps had hyperpigmentation complications. No cases had complications of hypersensitivity, cold intolerance, or scar contracture. Conclusion: Digital artery perforator flaps provide a safe, versatile option for the reconstruction of finger distal phalangeal defects.
