Abstract

Objective: To describe clinical characteristics and to evaluate initial the results of endoscopic surgery in treatment of laryngeal and hypopharyngeal benign tumors, cysts by Coblator II. Subject and method:
A descriptive with intervention study was conducted on 83 patients were treated by Coblator II endoscopic surgery at 108 Military Central Hospital  from 1/2019 - 12/2022. Result: Male/female ratio ≈2.0, mean age 49.06 ± 11.39, common risk factors were chronic sore throat (86.8%) and Laryngo Pharyngeal Reflux (75.9%), dyphagia was the most common symptom with 86.7%, vallecular cyst was the main lesion with 60.2%, operation time under 30 minutes: 86.7%, 78.3% had the amount of blood lost during surgery under 5ml, most patients had no pain or pain in low level after surgery (78.3% in day 1 and 98.8% in day 7), hospital stays days mean was 5.95; complications postsurgery: 3 cases infection,
3 cases hemorrhage, 6 cases recurrence was noted after 3-6 months. Conclusion: Coblator is a safety and effect method with bleeding control, less post-operation pain, faster rehabilitation, a few complications, shorten hospital stays.
