Abstract

Background: Aggressive control of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) helps prevent primary and secondary cardiovascular events. Objective: To study on the rate of achieving target
LDL-cholesterol according to recommendations. Subject and method: All patients were diagnosed and treated for acute myocardial infarction with complete clinical and laboratory data treated and followed up at 108 Military Central Hospital from March 2022 to October 2023. Result: Overall, 236 patients that met the inclusion criteria were recruited in the study: Average age of 69.2 ± 11.2 years, 78.3% were male, the most common risk factor was hypertension (98.31%), obesity (39.83%) and chronic coronary artery disease (31.36%). At the time of admission, the LDL-C level reached the target of ≤ 1.8mmol/L was 6.35%, ≤ 1.4mmol/L was 1.2%, and after 3 months of discharge, the rate increased to 24.1% and 7.6% respectively and has not yet reached the goals of the recommendations. Conclusion: The rate of achieving target LDL-C when treated with optimal statins in patients with acute myocardial infarction
3 months after discharge at 108 Military Central Hospital is low.
