Abstract

Objective: To compare MR imaging of osteoarthritis of the knee with stages of disease. Subject and method: 37 patients (62 knees) with osteoarthritis treated at 103 Military Hospital from Oct. 2018 to Sep. 2019. Degrees of disease were assessed by using the Kellgren-Lawrence scale. MRI findings were compared with radiographic severity of disease by Chi square test. Result: Defects of cartilage, osteophytes were found in all knee with osteoarthritis. MRI findings of osteoarthritis also included: Meniscal lesion, ligamentous lesion, effusion, subchondral cyst, popliteal cyst. Degrees of cartilage defect, osteophytes, marrow bone edema were strongly related to increasing Kellgren-Lawrence grade. Conclusion: MR imaging is helpful for staging osteoarthritis of the knee.
