Abstract

Objective: To investigate the status of using Helicobacter pylori-containing peptic ulcer treatment regimens for outpatients at 108 Military Central Hospital from April 1, 2023, to the end of May 31, 2023. Subject and method: A descriptive cross-sectional study on prescriptions of outpatients with a diagnosis of peptic ulcer disease and positive H. pylori test results. Assess the suitability of treatment regimens in the patient's prescription through one of the AGC 2017 treatment guidelines; Consensus Maastricht V/ Florence 2016 or WGO 2021. Result: There were 141 outpatient prescriptions that met the study criteria, the mean age of the patients was 51.96 years old, and 73.05% were male. Triple therapy (PAC, PAM) was the most used regimen (31.91% and 17.02% respectively), and bismuth quadruple therapy was indicated with a high rate (39.01%). Some inappropriate problems when prescribing include 11.35% of prescriptions using H. pylori eradication regimens not included in the recommendations, 7.09% of patients using less than 10 days of treatment, patients using the wrong dose of PPIs (68.09%), metronidazole (10.34%), amoxicillin (7.23%), and bismuth (1.52%). Conclusion: The inappropriate prescription of H. pylori treatment for outpatients is still high. It is necessary to continuously update the guidelines for the treatment of Helicobacter pylori regularly and consider building software to suggest the recommended regimen for doctors to prescribe appropriately and improve treatment efficiency for patients.
