Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the treatment results of reversible pulpitis with direct pulp capping with Mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA). Subject and method: 21 patients at Odontology Department, 108 Military Central Hospital with signs and symptoms indicative of irreversible pulpitis from May 2022 to January 2023 were enrolled. A standardized operative procedure was followed for all participants. Follow-up evaluations were scheduled for 6 months. Descriptive statistics were used to assess outcomes. Result: After 6 months, we obtained the result that the percentage "Success" results was 90.5%, "Failure" was 9.5% (2 cases of "failure" were taken root canal treatment). Patients with caries and cracked teeth mainly had the results "Successful" (accounting for 88.2% and 100% respectively). With the location of the lesion close to the pulp horn, the rate of "Failure" results only accounted for 11.8%. Meanwhile, in the group of teeth with lesions next to the proof of the pulp chamber, 100% was "Success" after 6 months. However, the difference was not statistically significant with p>0.05 (Fisher's exact test). Conclusion: Direct pulp capping with MTA on permanent teeth with reversible pulpitis has a high success rate.
