Status of treatment adherence of patients with type 2 diabetes treated with metformin as outpatients at the 108 Military Central Hospital, in 2022

Abstract
Objective: To assess the status of adherence in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients treated as outpatients with metformin at 108 Military Central Hospital. Subject and method: A cross-sectional study face-to-face interviews on 460 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM) treated as outpatients with metformin from August 2022 to November 2022. Result: The rate of medication adherence was 61.7%; compliance with physical activity was 26.7%; adherence to the nutritional regimen was 70.9%. 17.4% adhered to blood sugar control and 74.3% complied with periodic health check, of which only 12.8% of patients complied with blood sugar control and periodical examination. The rate of patients adhering to all four factors was 11.7%. Conclusion: The rate of adherence in patients with type 2 diabetes is still low. Therefore, it is really necessary to have solutions to improve treatment adherence for patients with type 2 diabetes treated with metformin.
