Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the quality of life and the impact of chronic tinnitus on more than 5-year chemoradiation for stage II-IVB nasopharyngeal carcinoma survivor. Analyze the association between chronic tinnitus and quality of life in the above-mentioned group. Subject and method: A descriptive study of stage II-IVB nasopharyngeal carcinoma (AJCC 7th) cases receiving chemoradiation at K Hospital from 2010-2013 with more than 5-year survival. Chronic tinnitus according to CTCAE v4.03 and quality of life. Assess the impact of chronic tinnitus on quality of life using the Cohen D impact factor. Result: From 109 cases: Average score on quality of life: Global quality of life averaged 62.9 points. Regarding the average score of functions: physical functions: 83.7 points, role functions: 78.6 points; emotional function: 75.4 points; cognitive function: 78.1 points; social function: 65.4 points. 3rd grade chronic tinnitus accounted for 8.3%. Grade 3 tinnitus had a mean quality of life score that was significantly different from the mean score of quality of life in a grade 0 person on all items of the quality of life scale, as calculated by Cohen's D.
