Results of surgical procedures to explant and implant of the heart-lung bloc in a swine model at 108 Military Central Hospital

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the results of an experimental explant and implant of the heart-lung bloc in a swine model. Subject and method: A descriptive prospective study, was performed on 3 pairs of pigs at 108 Military Central Hospital from 2021 to 2022. Result: The time for recipient site preparation of the 3 pairs was: 71, 75, and 72 (minutes), respectively. The time for performing 4 anastomoses was: 25, 34, and 37 (minutes) respectively. The time for aortic clamping of 3 pairs was: 72, 91, and 80 (minutes) respectively. The posttransplantation survival time of 3 pairs was 180, 325, and 370 (minutes), respectively. Conclusion: Through 3 transplant cases, we come to the following conclusions: The bicaval anastomosis technique can be chose in experimental explant and implant of the heart-lung bloc in a swine model. After transplantation, all the transplanted heart and lungs functioned correctly with a posttransplantation survival time of about 3 to 6 hours. These results contribute to the development and completion of surgical procedures to explant and implant of the heart-lung bloc in a swine model, which is the basis for applying the combined heart-lung transplantation in humans.
