Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the results of surgical procedures to harvest, perfusion, and preserve in a swine model of heart-lung transplantation. Subject and method: A descriptive prospective study, was performed on 3 pairs of pigs at 108 Military Central Hospital from 2021 to 2022. Result: All 3 heart-lung blocs of donor pigs, after being perfusion and preserved, were qualified for transplantation into recipient pigs. The time from the start of surgery to the time when the heart-lung bloc was removed from the thorax of the donor pigs of 3 pairs was: 83, 86 and 90 (minutes), respectively. The time to perfusion, prepare the anastomosis, and check the heart-lung bloc before transplanting of 3 pairs were: 20, 16 and 15 (minutes), respectively. Conclusion: Heart-lung blocs were harvested, perfused and preserved in 3 pairs of transplants which were performed conveniently, safely and meeting the time requirements for transplantation. The above results are the basis for developing and perfecting the technical process of harvesting, pefusing and preserving experimental heart-lung transplantation in a swine model to progress to heart-lung transplantation in humans.
