Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the results of the Partington-Rochelle procedure for chronic pancreatitis. Subject and method: A retrospective study of 46 cases of chronic pancreatitis who undergent Partington-Rochelle procedure from July 2017 to July 2021 at 108 Military Central Hospital. Result: The median age was 52.7 ± 12.9 years old, 80.4% of patients were male. The median pre-operative body mass index (BMI) was: 19.5 ± 2.4kg/m2, diabetes (34.8%), alcoholism (21.7%), acute pancreatitis (15.2%), abdominal pain (91.3%). Computed tomography images: Enlarged pancreas (10.9%), pancreatic atrophy (15.2%), pancreatic duct diameter: 11.2 ± 4.8mm, pancreatic stone (93.5%), pseudocyst pancreas (13.04%). The operative time was 145.43 ± 25.92 minutes, intraoperative blood loss: 163.04 ± 85.92ml. There was no postoperative mortality, the morbidity rate was 17.4%, including: wound infection (8.7%), gastrointestinal bleeding (2.2%), intestinal obstruction (4.3%), pancreatic fistula (2.2%). The average hospital stay after surgery was 9.1 ± 1.8 days. Conclusion: Partington-Rochelle procedure was a safe and effective therapeutic option for chronic pancreatitis with dilated main pancreatic duct without inflammatory mass in the head of the pancreas.
