Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the result of using the microdissected thin anterolateral thigh flap for the reconstruction of soft tissue defects. Subject and method: From June 2009 to March 2015, 41 free anterolateral thigh flaps thinned by microdissected method were used for reconstruction of  the face, neck, hands, and feet soft tissue defects in 38 patients. Result: Twenty – seven  flaps completely survived, 6 flaps have marginal necrosis, 6 flaps have partial necrosis, 2 free flaps were totally necrosis. The thickness of microdissected flaps ranged from 2.5 to 5mm. Conclusion: The microdissected technique of the anterolateral thigh flap provides a reliable solution for preparing thin flaps in the reconstruction of face, neck, hands, and feet defects.
