Abstract
Objective: To compare AVPU scale and Glasgow scale in prognosis of cranial injury. Subject and method: A cross sectional study assessed 126 patients with cranial injury from April to September of 2016. Result: On admission, A/V/P/U equivalent to 14.97/12/9/6 of Glasgow. The relationship between AVPU on admission and outcomes: With A, 96.58% of patients had completed recovery (p<0.01; OR = 0.07), with V, the rate of full recovery was 83.33% (OR = 0.26), with P, the rate was 50% (p<0.01; OR= 0.05), and with U, there was no complete recovery (p<0.01, OR = 0.04). Factors related to complication were paralysis (p<0.01). Multiple variable analysis showed factors related to outcomes included Glasgow under 13 points, P-U/AVP, and paralysis. Conclusion: A/V/P/U equivalent to Glasgow of 14.9/12/9/6. On admission Glasgow ≤ 13 or VPU, paralysis and neurological damage showed on cranial scanner could lead to poorer prognosis and a higher mortality rate.
