Abstract

In the classification of the World Health Organization, thyroid tumors include: (1) Colloidal thyroid tumor; (2) Thyroid cyst; (3) Thyroid inflammatory tumor; (4) Multinodular thyroid tumor; (5) Hyperactive thyroid tumor; (6) Thyroid cancer. Some documents also call group 1 as the group of adenomas (Thyroid adenomas) and in this group the Hürthle cell adenoma (HCA) subtype is of special attention because it can exist in both benign and malignant forms. The differential diagnosis of benign (HCA) and malignant (HCC) is always raised because of its relevance to treatment strategy and disease prognosis.      We present a case of HCA, in the mediastinum, which was confirmed and successfully operated on at the National Lung Hospital with the aim of stating the diagnostic approach and emphasizing the treatment method for colleagues to reference.
