Results of mitral valve replacement surgery with biological valves at 108 Military Central Hospital

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the results of mitral valve replacement surgery with biological valves. Subject and method: A retrospective descriptive study on 66 patients received biological valves mitral valve replacement surgery. Result: The average age was 66.8 ± 8.5 years old and the rate of women/male = 1.75. Biological valve size 29 has been used at most of 48.5%. NYHA was significantly improved early after surgery (p<0.05) and stable up to 12 months (p>0.05). The left atrium diameter, left ventricular end diastolic dimension and mean pulmonary artery pressure decreased compared in preoperative (p<0.05). EF% was stable for about 63%. Complications after surgery were low (3%) and no medium-term complications. Conclusion: After mitral valve was replaced with biological valves, it was found that symptoms improved, hemodynamic was stable and postoperative complications were low.
