Primary rib tumor: Review of clinical features, imaging characteristics of 45 cases at Cho Ray Hospital

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate clinical presentations, chest X-ray and CT scans characteristic and pathological features of primary rib tumors at Cho Ray Hospital. Subject and method: Retrosprospective study of 45 primary rib tumor patients were operated at Cho Ray Hospital from Jan. 2016 to Dec. 2020 about clinical presentations and chest X-ray and CT scans image and pathological features. Result: During 5 years, there were 45 patients, 30 (66.7%) were male. The meandian age was 43.5 years (range 22-77). Benign tumor: 36 patients; malignant tumor: 9 patients. The most frequently sign was chest pain (68.9%), tumor of the chest were found in 51.1% pts. Chest X-ray can identify the tumor in 84.4% cases. CT scans of malignant tumor presented the osteolytic, microcalcification, invasive border, characteristics. Conclusion: The malignant tumor patients were less than benign tumor patients. The benign tumor patients were presented chest pain, the image of uninvasive tumor with clear border on chest X-ray and CT scans. The malignant tumor patients were older, clinical presenting mostly with tenderness tumor. The characteristics of tumor found on chest X-ray and CT scans image were osteolytic, microcalcification, invasive border.
