Assessment of surgical site infection status at the Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery Department-108 Military Central Hospital (03/2020-03/2021)

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate of surgical site infection status at the Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery Department, 108 Military Central Hospital. Subject and method: A total of 410 patients who underwent surgery at 108 Military Central Hospital from March 2020 to March 2021 were evaluated in a descriptive cross-sectional study. Result: The mean age of patients was 55.1 ± 15.3 (12-89). Male/female: 1.5/1. The percentage of patients with underweight was 4.4%. Comorbidity: Hypertension 9%, diabetes 6.8%. The proportion of liver diseases 45.1%. 51.7% with prophylactic antibiotic. The percentage of patients who having clean surgery was 89.3%. The average number of days in hospital was 14.9 ± 7.1 days. 6.3% of patients with open surgery had surgical site infection, of which 0.2% were superficial infections. 11.53% of surgical siteinfection with Escherichia coli were positive. Conclusion: 6.3% of patients with open surgery have surgical site infection mainly due to E. coli.
