Early results of surgery for early stage hypopharyngeal cancer

Abstract
Objective: Evaluation of clinical characteristics and initial surgical outcomes of early stage hypopharyngeal cancer treatment. Subject and method: 30 patients on early stage hypopharyngeal cancer had operated at ENT Surgery Department, Vietnam National Cancer Hospital from October 2020 to June 2022. Descriptive study with intervention. Result: The age ranged from 42 to 74, male 100%. 100% of patients had tobacco and alcohol history, 70% of tumors in pyriform sinus. 2/30 had wound infection, 8/30 had regurgitation of food or sour liquid, 3/30 had delayed wound healing postoperative. Evaluation after 3 months did not detect surgical complications. Conclusion: Results of surgery for early stage hypopharyngeal cancer gave good results, few complications; no recurrence was detected after 3 months.
