Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the results of kyphoplasty. Subject and method: A decriptive study on 67 patients osteoporotic vertebral fracture who were treated by kyphoplasty at Thai Nguyen National Hospital from July 2021 to June 2022. Evaluation of clinical, laboratory and imaging characteristics before and after surgery 1 day, 1 month, and 3 months. Result: Mean age: 67.3 ± 10.7 (46-94 years old). Female patients 83.6%, male patients 16.4%. Average VAS before surgery 7.75 ± 1.25. Bone density mass in the spine (T-score) -3.8 ± 0.7. After surgery, VAS, vertebral body height, kyphosis angle and Cobb angle on X-ray were all significantly improved compared to before surgery (p<0.01). Accidents spilled cement across vertebral anterior was 4.5%; cement spilled onto the disc was 6.0%. MacNab score after 3 month: 92.5% of patients had good quality and very good quality of life. Conlusion: Kyphoplasty treatment of osteoporotic vertebral fracture gave good results, fewer complications, effective in improving the height of the vertebral and kyphosis angle.
