To evaluate the initial treatment outcomes of lumbar disc herniation by interlaminar endoscopic surgery

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the initial treatment outcomes of lumbar disc herniation by interlaminar endoscopic surgery. Subject and method: A cross-sectional study for 52 patients underwent endoscopic interlaminar lumbar discectomy at Quang Ninh General Hospital, from January 2020 to July 2022. Result: The mean age was 45.4. Male to female ratio was 54/46. 90.3% of patients had chronic low back pain from few months to few years. 88.4% of patients before surgery had spinal disability level severe and cripple. The average time of surgery was 110 minutes. The mean hospital stay was 4.8 days. After one month, 86.5% of patients had minimal disability of spinal function. There were 2 patients with recurrent disc herniation who underwent microsurgery to remove. Conclusion: Interlaminar endoscopic lumbar discectomy is minimal surgery and effective method in treatment of lumbar disc herniation with good initial outcomes and this surgical method could be performed in Provincial Hosptial.
