Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the effect of peeling the absorbent compress layer on split - thickness skin graft donor site at 2 - 4 hours of postoperative compared with 24 hours of postoperative. Subject and method: A comparative, prospective study had been conducted in 645 dermatome patients in National Institute of Burn from 1/3/2015 to 30/7/2017, which was devided randomly into 2 group: Group 1 (276 patients was peeled at 24 hours after surgery) and Group 2 (379 patients was peeled at 2 - 4 hours after surgery). Result: Peeling absorbent compress at 2 - 4 hours of postoperative was less painfull than doing it at 24 hours of postoperative, the painful time was also shorter in group 2. The local blood and solution exuding in group 1 was remakably more than group 2. Drying time and healing time were equaly in 2 group and the average healing time in both groups was approximately 10 - 14 days.
