Abstract
Cutaneous meningiomas which arise from of arachnoid cells are rare tumors that occur on the scalp and occur in both congenital and acquired forms. Although most of the case have histopathological features of meningothelial meningioma, the diagnosis has remained challenging for clinicians, radiologists and as well as pathologist due to their rarity and vague clinical symptoms. We reported a case of a 54-year-old male with a medical traumatic brain injury caused by traffic accident. He presented extensive subcutaneous lesions pushing the skin surface on the left frontal and orbital areas with an indistinct boundary. The combined of clinical examination and imaging tests suggested a malignant tumor. However, the histopathological images of small preoperative biopsy showed features of atypical fibrous histiocytoma: Monomorphic fibroblast-like and epithelioid shaped cells with delicate chromatin arranged in the whorl/curlicue pattern and CKAE1/AE3-negative staining; the tumor extended into the dermis and hypodermis. The postoperative histopathological results confirmed cutaneous meningioma, type III based on the medical history, histopathology and immunohistochemistry.
