Abstract

Objective: To describe the relationship between nutrional status with some clinical and subclinical characteristics in acute stroke patients with dysphagia. Subject and method: A descriptive, cross-sectional study of 76 acute stroke patients with swallowing disorder at the Stroke Center - 108 Military Central Hospital from December 2019 to December 2020. Result and conclusion: The mean age was 64.36 ± 12.93 years old, 75% of male. The group of patients with low weight (BMI < 18.5), elderly (> 80 years old) have a greater risk of malnutrion than other groups, this difference has statistical significance with p=0.04. There was no difference in nutritional status according to SGA, BMI and subclinical indexes (HGB, Protein, Albumin) in stroke types. Patients with moderate to severe dysphagia are at increased risk of developing severe malnutrition.
