Abstract
Objective: To assess the tumor budding and its relation with pathological characteristics in colorectal carcinoma. Subject and method: A descriptive, cross-sectional study has been conducted on 131 patients with colorectal carcinoma who were surgically treated and pathologically diagnosed at the Pathology and Forensic Medicine Department, 103 Military Hospital. Assess the tumor budding and its relation with the pathological characteristics based on pathological samples. Result: The mean age of patients was 62.7 ± 14.1. Patients older than 40 were predominant. The high, medium and low-grade tumor budding rates were 29.0%, 22.1%, and 48.9%, respectively. High-grade tumor budding was significantly associated with poor prognosis pathological features, including poorly differentiated grade, highly invasive tumor, lymph node involvement, vascular and perineural invasion. Conclusion: Tumor budding was a significantly adverse prognosis factor in colorectal carcinoma.
