Outcome of laparoscopic resection for rectal adenocarcinoma

Abstract
Objective: The study was conducted to evaluate the results of laparoscopic rectal adenocarcinoma resection. Subject and method: A cross-sectional study, 388 rectal adenocarcinoma patients had undergone laparoscopic resection at Department of Coloproctology and Pelviperineology, 108 Military Central Hospital from June 2018 to June 2022. Result: Male/female: 2.6/1, the mean age was 61.7 ± 11.3 (20-91). The rate of long-course preoperative chemoradiation therapy was 68.6%. Preoperative stage I, II, III were 1.8%, 5.7%, 92.5%, respectively. Open surgical conversion rate of 4.9%. The rate of abdominoperineal resection in the middle and lower rectal cancer group with long-course preoperative chemoradiation therapy was 20.1%. Postoperative stage 0, I, II, III were 13.2%, 35.0%, 32.0%, 19.9%, respectively. Average follow-up time 22.4 months. The rate of complication was 25.7%. The mortality rate was 9.3%. The rate of local recurrence was 3.6%. The rate of distal metastasis was 9.5%. The survival probability of 6, 12, 18 months were 98.3%, 96%, 94%, respectively. The survival probability of stage 0, I, II, III were 97%, 96.4%, 95%, 92.7% (p=0.664), respectively. Conclution: The laparoscopic rectal adenocarcinoma resection is feasible, safe, effective.
