Assessment of patient care results after laparoscopic appendectomy at A Thai Nguyen Hospital

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the results of patient care after laparoscopic appendectomy at the Surgical Department of the Thai Nguyen A Hospital and to identify factors related to postoperative pain and sleep quality of those patients. Subject and method: A descriptive study was conducted on 75 patients after laparoscopic appendectomy at the Surgical Department of Thai Nguyen A Hospital during the period from November 2018 to January 2019. Result: Pain decreased over time after surgery: Mean pain score decreased from 4.29 points on day 1 to 3.41 point on day 2 and to 2.20 points on day 3. Quality of sleep increased from 40.7 points (day 1) to 49.9 points (day 2) and up 59.3 points (day 3). The rate of surgical site infection was 1.3%. Conclusion: The pain level of patients decreased gradually after laparoscopic appendectomy. The patient's sleep quality gradually increased over time after surgery. Preoperative anxiety, duration of surgery are associated with postoperative pain. Gender is associated with pain and sleep quality of patients after laparoscopic appendectomy.
