Attitude of patients type 2 diabetes mellitus about hypoglycaemia and its related factors

Abstract
Objective: To describe the attitude of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus about hypoglycemia and its related factors. Subject and method: A cross-sectional descriptive study by using HABS tool of Polonsky 2015, on 150 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus at 17 Military Medical Hospital. Result: The proportion of patients with correct attitude was 76.7%, in which patients with less avoidance, less anxiety and confidence accounted for 61.3%, 76.7% and 31.4%, respectively. The study found a statistically significant relationship between the attitude hypoglycaemia and these following factors: Gender (p=0.003), education level (p=0.0001), work status (p=0.0001), family history (p=0.0001), insulin treatment (p=0.0001), health status (p=0.001), health education counseling (p=0.039), age (r = -0.574, p<0.01) and disease duration (r = -0.565, p<0.01). Conclusion: Attitude assessment of hypoglycaemia and its related factors among type 2 diabetes mellitus contribute to early detection and timely intervention to improve the quality of care, treatment and the quality of life for patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
