Abstract

Objective: To investigate the change of blood cells after red blood cells transfusion and evaluate some of early reactions in relation with blood transfusion. Subject and method: 65 turns of anemia patients were been transfused with red blood cells at Hematological Department, 108 Military Central Hospital from 01/2022 - 4/2022. A cross-sectional study. Result: The median age of patients was 61.1 ± 17.7 (21 - 93), age > 60 accounted for the highest rate with 52.3%, the proportion of males and females female was 1.7/1. There were 6.16% of patients experiencing an early reaction related to red blood cells transfusion. 100% of patients after transfusion had increased red blood cells and hemoglobin. The amount of hemoglobin after transfusion of 100ml of red blood cells on average increased by 66.52 ± 41.42mg/kg. Conclusion: The number of red blood cells, hemoglobin and hematocrit increased after red blood cells transfusion. There were no significant changes in white blood cell and platelet counts. The rate of early reactions related to transfusion accounted for 6.16%. The early reactions were commonly ever, itching, hives and chills.
