Abstract
Objective: Using VF-14 questionnaire to evaluate the functional impairment of glaucoma patients at Glaucoma Department - VNIO. Subject and method: A descriptive study on 100 glaucoma patients with One-to-one interview was conducted on glaucoma patients in the Glaucoma Department of VNIO, using VF-14 questionnaire. History, visual acuity, visual field, IOP, gonioscopy, optic disc was also evaluated. Result: A total of 100 glaucoma patients were recruited (55% primary open-angle glaucoma, 30% primary angle-closure glaucoma, 14% secondary glaucoma and 1% congential glaucoma). Majority had bilateral involvement. Mean VF-14 score was 80.02 ± 20.29. Difficulty in driving during the day and night were reported in 73% and difficulty in recognizing people were seen in 24%. 89% had some degree of functional impairment with 30% of mild, 29% of moderate, 28% severe, 1% of very severe. There was a significant association between VF-14 scoring with age, the better-eye visual acuity and type of glaucoma (p<0.05). Conclusion: The version of VF-14 questionnaire is a useful tool in evaluating the functional impairment and quality of life of glaucoma patients.
