Thực trạng sợ corticosteroid bôi ở bệnh nhân viêm da cơ địa tại Bệnh viện Da liễu Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh

Abstract

Objective: To identify the prevalence of topical corticosteroid phobia in patients with atopic dermatitis according to the TOPICOP scale. To identify the relationship between the global TOPICOP score and clinic characteristics. Subject and method: We performed a cross-sectional study in 267 patients with atopic dermatitis at Ho Chi Minh City Hospital of Dermato‐Venereology from October 2020 to July 2021. Result: The prevalence of topical steroid phobia in our study was 45.8%. The median global TOPICOP score was 50% (36.1% - 61.1%). The median domain TOPICOP subscores were 38.9% (22.2% - 50%) for knowledge, 66.7% (44.4% - 88.9%) for fears and 55.6% (44.4% - 66.7%) for behaviour. In multivariable analysis, there was no significant correlation between the global TOPICOP score and gender (p=0.34), age of onset (p=0.21), stages of disease (p=0.36), severity index (p=0.09). The correlation between the global TOPICOP score and age were significant (p=0.02). Conclusion: We found that the prevalence of topical steroid phobia was moderately high. Therefore, it is necessary to have a health education program for patients with atopic dermatitis to reduce the fear of topical corticosteroid.
