Abstract

Objective: COVID-19 patients mostly have respiratory symptoms, however gastrointestinal symptoms can also be seen singly or in conjunction with respiratory symptoms. Digestive disorders in patients infected with COVID-19 have been reported in some countries around the world, that is the reason why we study gastrointestinal disorders in patients infected with COVID-19 in Vietnam. Subject and method: A cross-sectional study, 54 patients infected with COVID-19 had gastrointestinal symptoms (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain). Result: The average age was 47.8 years old, male accounted for 22/54 (40.7%). Diarrhea was the symptom with the highest rate of 42/54 (77.8%) followed by nausea 30/54 (55.6%), and vomiting 25/54 (46.3%). Conclusion: Diarrhea is the most common gastrointestinal symptom, some other symptoms such as vomiting and nausea are found at a lower rate.
