Nursing care after maxillofacial abscess incision and drainage at Vietnam National Children’s Hospital in 2020

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate nursing care of patients after abscess incision and drainage at Vietnam National Children’s Hospital in 2021. Subject and method: A descriptive cross-sectional study was performed on 90 children with maxillofacial abscesses incision at Department of Odonto - Stomatology, Vietnam National Children’s Hospital. Result: There was 92.2% of cases with no complication after treating maxillofacial abscess, only one case with sepsis. Among evaluation of nursing care criteria, the criteria of daily patient observation, nursing practice, and explanation for adherence to medication were those with good results. Among total criteria, 71.1% of nurses was evaluated at good level and 28.9% of those needed to be improved. Conclusion: It is necessary to have a good and complete assessment in monitoring and evaluating patients, performing nursing techniques such as explaining and guiding the patient's family members to adhere to medication treatment in order to achieve effective treatment for pediatric patients with maxillofacial abscess.
