Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of botulinum toxin A injection in the treatment of masseter hypertrophy. Subject and method: We performed an interventional study in 30 patients with masseter hypertrophy treated with botulinum toxin A injection, evaluating after 2 months at Ho Chi Minh City Hospital of Dermato-Venereology from September 2020 to July 2021. Result: The mean size of right and left masseter muscles significantly reduced 18.1% and 19.8%, respectively. Patient satisfaction was very high. Side effects were not significant with low pain rate (6.67%). Conclusion: Botulinum toxin A injection was effective and safe for the treatment of masseter muscle hypertrophy.
