Abstract

Objective: To comment on nutritional status in patients with acute cerebral stroke with swallowing disorder. To assess the relation between manutrition and swallowing disorder in patients with acute cerebral stroke. Subject and method: Including 76 acute cerebral stroke patients with swallowing disorder from December 2019 to December 2020, at the Stroke Center - 108 Military Central Hospital, the nutritional status was assessed according to the method “Subjective Global Assesment” (SGA). Result and conclusion: The average rate of malnutrition in terms of Body Mass Index (BMI) accounted for 6.6% and 7.9% respectively at the time of admission and discharge. Patients with average risk of malnutrition according to SGA accounted for 63.2% at hospital admission and 43.4% at discharge; The risk of moderate and severe malnutrition increased with the worsening of the swallowing disorder.
