Abstract

Recurrent metastatic radioiodine refractory differentiated thyroid cancer often has a poor prognosis. Recurrent lesions involving the trachea may increase the death risk. Tracheostomy may be the curative treatment; however, there is controversy regarding the extent of the tracheal resection. The radical resection may increase the regional control rate with a positive impact on survival. With a short literature review, the present study focuses on two cases of recurrent radioiodine refractory differentiated thyroid cancer invading the trachea, gathering some clinical experiences.
