The 8th lung cancer staging classification, non-small cell lung cancer

Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the results of of the 8th lung cancer staging classification and compare with the 7th edition in patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Subject and method: The cross sectional and prospective study on 33 patients with NSCLC at Center of Respiratory, 103 Military Hopital from Apr 2019 to July 2020. Classification of disease is based on clinical, diagnostic imaging techniques (Chest computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging...), bronchoscopy, PET-CT. Evaluate the results of of the 8th lung cancer staging classification and compare with the 7th edition in patients with non-small cell lung cancer. Result: According to the 8th edition, T4 subgroups accounted for 42.4%, N3: 60.6%, M1: 63.6%; the majority of patients were in advanced stage (stage IIIB - IVB) (97.0%). There were 15.1% of patients with early stage, according to the classification of 7th version who advanced stage when classifying according to 8th version. Conclusion: There are differences in the staging classification between 7th edition and 8th edition in patients with non-small cell lung cancer.
