Abstract

Objective: To compare the images of pleural lesions in patients who have pleural effusion due to tuberculosis and lung cancer metastasis. Subject and method: Descriptive study and cross-section the characters of pleural lesions in 186 patients who was done local anesthesia pleuroscopy by semi-rigid thoracoscopic tube. Result: In total, 59.6% patients had pleural effusion due to lung cancer metastase and tuberculosis was the cause in 40.4% pleural effusion patients. Pleural effusion with red color appeared in 59.5% of patients with metastatic lung cancer was higher than the cause of tuberculosis at 42.75%, yellow fluid in 57.3% of patients with pleural effusion due to TB compared to 40.5% pleural effusion patients due to metastatic lung cancer, the difference is statistically significant with p<0.05. The pulmonary adenocarcinoma accounts for the highest proportion with 67.57%. Images of pleural lesions in the form of cauliflower-like fused in to mass and divusified nodules were observed in pleural effusion patients with metastatic lung cancer at the rates of 32.4% and 45%, respectively. Equivalent multiple small grap - white nodules, thickening adhesion are common lesions in TB-induced pleural effusion with 44% and 72% respectively, the difference is statistically significant with p<0.05. Conclusion: Pleural effusion caused by lung cancer metastase often has red fluid, pleural lesions were granulomas and nodules of irregular size and size, while thick and sticky images, the nodes evenly and yellow fluid are usually seen in pleural effusion due to tuberculosis with p<0.05
