Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the effects of STZ on Swiss mice model in Vietnam by evaluating the hematological, biochemical and histological indicators of liver, kidney and pancreas in Swiss male mice after 5 weeks of injection. Subject and method: STZ was dissolved in a citrate buffer (pH = 4.5), injected into the peritoneum at two STZ- low (< 80mg/kg) and STZ-high (≥ 80mg/kg), after 10 weeks of follow-up. Result: Obtained with STZ-high did not cause disease successfully. The dose of STZ-low is repeated 4 times as a successful diabetes dose (reaching 70%) for the Swiss mice breed in Vietnam. Conclusion: In this study, diabetes in Swiss mice at lower doses was more successful than in high doses and no deaths occurred
